Thursday 16 August - Woking (Captains Day)
Woking
Heavy rain in the morning and green under water greeted the early arrivals for John's Captains Day. Woking Golf Club Management were very pessimistic about the course even being playable but given the numbers attending, reaarangement was not an option.
Fortunately with a later start of 1pm and with most of the participants ready to play, the rain abated and as forecasted a watery sun shone down for the rest of a balmy afternoon.

Winner of the Douglas Wilson Trophy was our Captain John, with a great score of 36 points with Theo Ziffo the runner up one point behind, also claiming nearest the pin on the 2
nd, Third prize went to David Tugwell with 34 points.

Inaugural winner of the magnificent Peter Worne Trophy for the best gross score on the day  was Steve Shiebert with 78, closely followed by John Summerbell with 80.

Team winners with 84 points were Kim Harris, his guest Finlay Mitchell and Tim O'Donovan.

Congratulations to all who played, 52 being a record for a Captains day. Sincere thanks to John who was responsible for a magnificent prize table and to his generosity for pre golf drinks, ball markers and a mug with Priory motif. A mention is also due to Graham White for looking after the Officer of the Day duties in such an efficient and ebullient manner.

The Club provided a very enjoyable two- course supper and it was agreed that we rebook for a like date next year.
